I will never forget the day when we got the long waited fluffy golden puppy home. With her little paws she came into our house and tangled our family around her tail as she wished. Really fast we noticed that this sweet little puppy was a lot more than just a sweet puppy, she was quite of challenging and stubborn for a first dog. We were learning together and in time Venla grew to be the most wonderful golden girl. Venla was really smart, she learned everything really fast and she had a talent to charm people, even the ones who didn't care that much of dogs.
Venla was a happy dog and she got a lot of energy on things she wanted to do herself. She knew what she wanted and she was ready to do everything to get it. Unforgettable is our friends birthday party where Venla was eating the cake and that certainly was not the only time she was stealing food. Venla loved swimming and my little girl couldn't resist muddy ditches, and after the walks in the forest Venla was always the dirtiest one. She loved to be in the car and most of the New Year Eves I spent driving with her. The car was the only place where she felt herself safe without hearing the fireworks, which she was really afraid of.
In the end of 2004 one little bone was broken on Venla's leg and it had a consequences on her everyday life till the end of her life. She managed really well with her leg and every year I was grateful that I got to keep her so long. A couple of years ago she had really aggressive infection on her stomache, but she made it once again. In the end of September she suffered from similar severe stomache problems and eventually there was nothing anyone could do to help her, and so we needed to let her go.
Venla had a great golden heart. She was like faithful dog from the movies, who keeps her family together. On the dog beaches of Califonria she was protecting Samuel from unfamiliar dogs. Venla loved children and when Samuel grew older, they played together hide-n-seek in the forest. Samuel was sometimes training Venla and she always did everything Samuel asked for.
My heart is broken into million pieces and we all miss her so much. I don't think I will never get a dog as wise as she was. We have gone through so much in 9 years and we have a lot of beautiful memories. The only thing that calms me, is that Venla is now resting peaceful. I'm happy that she got back to her own home in Finland and got chance to run in our forests, which she enjoyed so much.
Thank you dear Venla of all of these years, we are grateful for having a friend like you!
We miss you so much,
Monica, Jussi & Samuel
